Currant Kitchen, Where Locals Grow is a new weekly series featuring one of Houston’s top chefs Soren Pedersen. The series will focus on Chef Soren teaching the audience how and where to purchase locally grown vegetables and local farm raised products. In addition, Chef Soren will demonstrate how delicious and unique meals can be simply created from the seasonal products for individuals, families and friends to enjoy.
Houston and the surrounding areas, where local farmers raise some of the most deliciously fresh and seasonal products will be the focus of Currant Kitchen.
Chef Soren Pedersen was born and raised in Denmark where cooking with fresh local ingredients is culturally instilled. With this background, Chef Soren began his apprenticeship in the kitchen at age fourteen. With over 25 years of professional cooking experience, Chef Soren will share his secrets and expertise in this one-of-a-kind cooking series, Currant Kitchen. Chef Soren will demonstrate how to forage the local farmers markets for the freshest seasonal ingredients. With in-season products selected at their peak of flavor, Chef Soren will combine them to create simple meals that are incredible. An added feature is Chef Soren’s “one meal a week” challenge; Chef promises it will not be a difficult challenge!
